Louisville-area 4th of July events

Waterfront Park Fourth of July sponsored by Ford

  • Friday, July 4, 2025, at Waterfront Park
  • 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. 
  • Bring a blanket or lawn chairs
  • Celebration to feature "Waterfront's Most Talented," a variety show showcasing Louisville's talented residents
  • Kosair for Kids Children’s Area offers themed activities and games centered around science, music, art, and nature throughout the evening

  • Saturday, July 5 starting at 2 p.m. at 6605 Lower Hunters Trace, Louisville
  • Bounce house and outdoor games, on-site concessions, music, sober environment, fireworks show at dark

Crescent Hill 4th of July Festival 40th anniversary

  • Friday, July 4 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the Peterson Dumesnil House, 301 S. Peterson Ave.
  • Full day of free family fun and entertainment; art fair, food trucks, craft beer selections, live music, a cake wheel, a magician, a pet contest, a cake baking contest, a children’s Fun Zone 
  • Raffle and silent auction benefiting the Peterson Dumesnil House

Paristown's 6th annual 4th of July Celebration

  • Friday, July 4 at Christy's Garden, 720 Brent Street in Louisville
  • Artisan Market 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. 
  • $15 (advance) $18 Tickets required after 5 p.m. Click here for tickets
    • Kids free with a ticket-holding adult
  • The Crashers 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. 
  • Jeff's Donuts National Donut Hole Eating Contest at 8 p.m.
    • $1,000 grand prize (Must be 18 years old to compete)

Prospect’s July 4th Community Celebration and Fireworks Extravaganza!

  • Friday, July 4th 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • This FREE event will begin with a parade at 6 pm.
  • Fireworks to begin at dusk (approx. 9:40 pm.).

Event will feature: The Sons and Daughters of the American Revolution, Official Color Guard of the Parade, Musical DJ spinning tunes, train rides, bouncy houses, and games for kids. Kona Ice frozen treat, Ramiro's Cantina and Kinnard Brothers BBQ food trucks. Fireworks!

Independence Day at Locust Grove 

  • Friday, July 4 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Live music by the Shelby Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution Fife & Drum, Louisville Brass Band, and Carolyn Dawson singing our National Anthem.

Reading of the Declaration of Independence, Historic Flag Display and Flag Retirement Ceremony and an Interactive 18th-century displays including blacksmith, violin maker, store, schoolmaster, and a Revolutionary War encampment. 

Bring your own blankets & chairs or swimsuits for the kids - we’ll have lawn games like badminton and sprinklers to beat the heat!

  • Main Street in Shelbyville, Ky. 

Assembly area at 9 a.m. at the Shelbyville First Baptist Church parking lot. 

Freedom Fest '25 at Fort Knox

  • Friday, July 4 6 p.m. 
  • Brooks Parade Field
  • Inflatables, kids activities, live cover music and military working K-9 demonstration
  • Food and drink available for purchase
  • Salute to the Nation Ceremony at 9 p.m. including firing cannons 
  • Fireworks at 10:05 p.m.
  • The event is free and open to the public

St. Matthews Independence Day 5K

  • Friday, July 4 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. 
  • St. Matthews Baptist Church Grandview Room in Louisville, Ky. 

Join us at 8:00 a.m. on Friday morning, July 4th for the St. Matthews Independence Day 5K. This race has its origins back to the 1970's (with the course unchanged) in what was then called the St. Matthews Pavement Pounder. This fun and fast timed race begins and ends at St. Matthews Baptist Church (3515 Grandview Avenue). Walkers are welcome!

Kentucky Kingdom Bluegrass & Booms

  • Friday, July 4 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Kentucky Kingdom, 937 Phillips Lane, Louisville
  • Spend the holiday riding rides, splashing around in the waterpark, and enjoy fireworks and unique foods

Riverview Independence Fest

  • Saturday, July 5 at 5 p.m. Fireworks begin at 10 p.m.
  • Riverview Park in Louisville, Ky.
  • There will be food trucks, a splash pad, live music and fireworks. There's a free parking area but the boat ramp will be closed. TARC shuttles will be available from 4-11 p.m. from 7301 Distribution Drive.

Fanfare for the Fourth with the Louisville Chorus 

  • Sunday, July 6 at 3 p.m. 
  • St. Matthews Baptist Church, 3515 Grandview Avenue, Louisville, Ky 40207
  • Admission is free, but a suggested donation of $15

The Louisville Chorus honors our country’s day of independence with a musical and multi-media celebration of Americana, and a tribute to our nation’s military personnel. Choral classics, live brass, flute, percussion, video and flag presentations. Community celebration. Info here. 

6th of July Free BBQ for Veterans

  • July 6 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Shawnee Park, 4501 W. Broadway, Louisville
  • Free food and camaraderie for veterans and patriots
  • Nonprofit dedicated to increasing sustainable homeownership, financial-literacy education, and economic opportunity for the military communities.

Thunder Over Patoka

This year marks the 21st year that Patoka Lake Area Year-round (PLAY) has put on this annual event. Fireworks will start at dark. Bring your family and friends, lawn chairs, blankets, refreshments, and bug spray. The entrance fee of $7 per vehicle for Indiana residents ($9 out of state) is required for the Newton Stewart State Recreation Area, Patoka Reservoir, located north of Wickliffe Indiana, Highway 164. Firecracker 5K in Marengo, Indiana 

  • Friday, July 4 at 9 a.m. 
  • 177 S. Second Street, Marengo, In. 

The most unique race in Southern Indiana! As underground temperatures year-round are 54 degrees, this will undoubtedly be the coolest July race around. The course will start Marengo Boys and Girls Club proceeding down SR 64 passing Marengo Cave. It then heads directly to the underground tour at mile 1 doubling back to finish just outside at the festival. Info here.
