LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The weekend is upon us, and there are plenty of things to do and see across Kentuckiana.
Here are a selection of events, markets, concerts and more happening Labor Day weekend Friday, Sept. 5 to Sunday, Sept. 7.
3rd annual Pawpaw Festival
A Louisville festival will celebrate a native fruit while supporting a local nonprofit this weekend.
Councilwoman Josie Raymond and the Louisville Nature Center are inviting the community to celebrate the third annual Pawpaw Festival.
The celebration is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 6, at the Louisville Nature Center.
The free, family-friendly event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be guided hikes, hands-on workshops, local vendors, live music, pawpaw tastings and activities for all ages.
Guided hikes require pre-registration, which closes Friday, Sept. 5, at 4 p.m.
The pawpaw is a native fruit of Kentucky and the Ohio River Valley, often described as tasting like a blend of banana, mango and pineapple.

Kentucky Science Center's 'Touch a Truck'
The Kentucky Science Center is hosting the family-favorited 'Touch A Truck' event, where guests will have the opportunity to get hands-on with a variety of trucks and construction equipment, from front loaders to city buses!
Trucks, heavy machinery, and other vehicles will be on hand courtesy of various community partners including Louisville Metro Fire Department, Louisville Metro Police Department, Public Works, Amteck, UofL, TARC, Louisville Metro EMS, National Guard, Purdue Polytechnic, and Louisville Water Company.
The event is on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is open to adults and children of all ages. It will be located in the Kentucky Science Center's parking lot, located at the corner of West Washington and 8th Streets.
Admission is free.
Middletown’s Family Fun Fest
Middletown's Family Fun Fest is taking over Wetherby Park this weekend, one of the community's most anticipated events.
This year's 53rd annual Family Fun Fest promises to a blend of nostalgia and excitement, featuring activities that celebrate the spirit of Middletown.
Several organizations and businesses will have their products and services on display. Thousands of community members are expected to attend.
Attendees can expect arts and crafts, food trucks, animal shows, cooking demonstrations and live music. Entertainment acts include 100% Poly, The Heart of Rock n' Roll - A Huey Lewis Tribute, and a drone firework show.
The festival will go from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, and will return Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Jeffersontown Gaslight Festival
Thousands of people will visit Jeffersontown during the 56th annual Gaslight Festival this weekend.
The festival started Friday and runs through Sept. 14.
What started as a small street party in 1969 has grown to become one of the area's largest festivals.
Hosted by The Chamber Jeffersontown, the Gaslight Festival has events each day. Events include a bowling event, golf scramble, 5k run/walk, local shopping and eating, a parade, a balloon glow and a car show.
The Gaslight Parade will be held Thursday, Sept. 11 at 6 p.m.
Gaslight Festival Weekend runs from Sept. 12-14
Over 135 arts & crafts vendors will travel from across the country to showcase their talents. Additionally, more than 130 area business, civic and nonprofit organizations spread awareness during the 3-day event.
Centered in the small-town ambiance of Gaslight Square, the festival has evolved into a time-honored tradition of Jeffersontown.

Big Four Arts Festival
The weekend forecast looks pretty perfect for the annual Big Four Arts Festival, held the weekend following Labor Day on the Big Four Lawn at Waterfront Park.
This is the ninth year for the festival, which starts Saturday, Sept. 6 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and continues Sunday, Sept. 7, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Organizers say the event usually draws some of the biggest crowds, up to 20,000 people.
The festival features more than 150 artists, craftsman, jewelers, artisans and demonstration artists. It also includes live music, hands-on activities, festival food and food trucks, beer, wine, cocktails and mocktails, and more.
The ticketed event costs $5, the proceeds of which go toward Bridgehaven Mental Health Services.
