LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Two people, including a 13-year-old boy, were charged with attempted murder Tuesday after a teenager was shot multiple times in Louisville's Smoketown neighborhood last week.
The shooting happened just after 4 p.m. March 20 in the 900 block of South Shelby Street, according to Louisville Metro Police.
Once on scene, officers found a 13-year-old boy with "multiple gunshot wounds." He was taken to UofL Hospital, but his condition is unknown at this time.
On Tuesday, LMPD said detectives with its Non-Fatal Shooting Unit made two arrests in the case. Chrishau'd Davis, 18, and a 13-year-old boy are charged with attempted murder and two counts of assault.
According to an arrest citation for Davis, he and the 13-year-old suspect were caught on surveillance video involved in a physical altercation with the victim in which Davis hits the teen in the head multiple times with a handgun.
Police said the three ran outside the frame of the video, but the two suspects returned to the scene to get their belongings. That's when Davis got a handgun from the inside of his jacket and hands it to the 13-year-old, who shoots the victim several times.
During the shooting, police said Davis can be heard on video yelling "kill him" before both suspects flee the scene on foot. The victim was taken to the hospital for "emergency surgery," according to court documents. LMPD had no updates Tuesday regarding the victim's condition.
Davis appeared in court Wednesday morning, when he pleaded not guilty. A judge set his bond at $250,000 and ordered him not to have any weapons.
LMPD said the investigation remains active. Anyone with information in this or any other case is encouraged to call LMPD's anonymous Crime Tip Line at 502-574-LMPD (5673). Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the department's online Crime Tip Portal by clicking here.
