LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Baptist Health hosted a block party Saturday to raise awareness for cancer screenings.
The block party took place at the Charles and Mimi Osborn Cancer Center on Kresge Way in St. Matthews.Â
There were food demonstrations, Zumba, photo displays and vendors with a focus on health and well-being.
Organizers said education is a major component of cancer prevention — to learn what you can control and what your risk factors are.
Resources were also provided because it can be a tough journey to go through on your own.
"We've got a lot of the doctors that have come out to try and help support and also a number of support staff and activities for kids and other people to learn more about these opportunities and learn about cancer screenings," Dr. Justin Anderson, event participate, said.
Much of the event also focused on breast cancer awareness month, which is every October.
