LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Community members in Louisville walked to raise awareness of sexual assault Thursday afternoon.

The Center for Women and Families hosted the annual "Communities Walk Free From Abuse" walk at the Big Four Bridge. The goal is to create an environment where survivors feel empowered to reach out to learn about available resources to assist them on their journey to healing.

"Primarily, what we are doing is raising our voices and sharing messages of support for survivors of sexual assault to let them know that we believe them. That's the most important message," said Tammy Taylor, director of communications at the Center for Women and Families.

If you or someone you know is in trouble, you can call the 24/7 toll free crisis line at 1-844-BE-SAFE-1 (1-844-237-2331).
