LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Families can visit the Frazier History Museum in downtown Louisville for free Saturday.
The museum on Main Street is hosting a Community and Family Day on Sept. 14. Families who mention Family Day at the front desk can enjoy free admission from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
People can explore galleries, participate in family-friendly activities and talk to local children's authors and illustrators, according to a news release Wednesday. Dolly Parton's "Billy the Kid Makes it Big," a children’s book written by Dolly Parton with Erica S. Perl and illustrated by Louisville illustrator MacKenzie Haley, will be featured. Haley will be at the museum.
Frazier History Museum released a schedule for the day, which includes:
- 11 a.m.: Activity stations open throughout the museum. Book shop opens in the first floor Great Hall.
- 11 a.m.: Brittany J. Thurman presentation (story time and activity for ages 4–8).
- 11:30 a.m.: MacKenzie Haley presentation (reading and activity for ages 3–8).
- 12–12:30 p.m.: Picnic in the Frazier’s Gateway Garden (BYO lunch or purchase from the food truck)!
- 1 p.m.: Deedee Cummings presentation (reading and discussion for ages 6–11).
- 1:30 p.m.: Mick Sullivan presentation (for ages 7–12).
- 2 p.m.: Activity stations close. Final book sales and signing.
The museum and museum shop will remain open until 5 p.m.
