LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Families having trouble keeping enough pet food in the house can take advantage of a special program being sponsored by the Kentucky Humane Society.
According to a news release Monday, KHS will give families supplemental pet food from its Pet Food Bank to help struggling pet owners. Anyone who needs assistance feeding a pet can apply for help by CLICKING HERE.
A counselor will then reach out with details on how to pick up the food after the form has been submitted. People without internet access can call 502-509-4738.
Each household is eligible to receive one free bag of cat or dog food from KHS per month.
"We’re so grateful for this opportunity to lend a helping paw," Shelby Schulz, pet retention services manager at KHS, said in the release. "We know the best place for animals is in a safe home with people who love them, and we never want access to food to stand in the way of that."
