LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified a 20-year-old man who died after he was hit by a vehicle on Interstate 64 West near downtown Louisville last week.
According to the coroner's office, Christian Shively died at the scene from blunt force trauma sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
Shively was hit a little after 2 a.m. Oct. 31 after police said he was involved in a hit-and-run crash on I-64 East. Police said he abandoned a Hyundai Santa Fe and took off running after he rear-ended a Land Rover at a high rate of speed on I-64 East at the junction with Interstate 65.
Police said Shively took off running from the Hyundai after the crash when he was "subsequently struck by a passing motorist" as he attempted to cross the westbound lanes of I-64.
Shively was pronounced dead at the scene.
Louisville Metro Police said the driver of the vehicle on I-64 West that hit Shively remained at the scene and cooperated with officers. No charges are expected.
The driver of the Land Rover was uninjured, according to an LMPD news release. No charges are expected.
