LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Louisville brewery that once ranked among the region's largest beer producers is shutting down after filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy.
According to our partners at Louisville Business First, Goodwood Brewing and Spirits filed for bankruptcy liquidation in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Kentucky.
Court records show the company estimates it has between $1 million and $10 million in both assets and liabilities.
Unlike a reorganization bankruptcy, Chapter 7 generally involves selling off a company's assets to help satisfy outstanding debts.
The filing follows a difficult stretch for Goodwood, which has faced a series of setbacks in recent months. The company closed multiple taprooms and restaurants this year while also dealing with lawsuits alleging unpaid rent, taxes and other financial obligations.
Goodwood's Louisville locations in NuLu and on Whiskey Row closed earlier this spring.
At its peak, Goodwood was one of the largest breweries in the Louisville area by production volume.
