LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Goodwood Brewing and Spirits closed another location as its financial troubles continue to grow.
According to our partners at Louisville Business First, the restaurant closed its Owensboro restaurant and taproom April 26, one day before a judge in Daviess Circuit Court entered a nearly $100,000 default judgment against the owners over unpaid rent.
Judge David Payne awarded landlord Entertainment at the Enclave $99, 604.96, not including court fees, after a lawsuit alleging more than $120,000 in unpaid rent dating back to November.
The landlord was also granted a temporary restraining order preventing Goodwood from removing equipment from the property.
The closure comes as the Louisville-based brewery undergoes an ownership transition and faces multiple lawsuits alleging unpaid rent, services and taxes.
New ownership has taken over some leases for Goodwood locations in Frankfort and Lexington, as well as one in Missouri. However, the group was unable to reach an agreement with the landlord to take over the Owensboro lease.
