LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A 2-year-old child died Tuesday night after drowning in a pool in Louisville's Valley Station neighborhood.
Officers responded around 7 p.m. to the 10300 block of Nanka Road after receiving a report of a child who had fallen into a swimming pool, according to Louisville Metro Police.
The child was unresponsive when first responders arrived. Despite efforts to save the child's life, the child was taken to Norton Children's Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
LMPD said its Homicide Unit is investigating the death, which is standard procedure in cases involving a fatality.
Authorities have not released the child's identity or any additional information about the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
