LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Video from a neighbor of U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell's Washington, D.C., home shows a person being loaded into an ambulance the morning of June 14 as questions about his health remain.
The neighbor shared the video with CNN from the day McConnell's team said the 84-year-old was hospitalized about three weeks ago.
At the time, a statement from his office only said he was "receiving excellent care." A statement a week later said that he would not be voting that week. A later statement said that he "continues to improve" and "appreciates the outpouring of support he's receiving while he continues his recovery in the hospital."
His office has not released any updates since then, and a spokeswoman did not return a request for comment on Monday.
The neighbor who recorded the video said Capitol police blocked the street, with two ambulances and a firetruck on scene. A person was then taken from a home on a stretcher wrapped in a blanket, not wearing an oxygen mask. Other neighbors said they saw McConnell's face.
A witness who asked Capitol police what was happening was reportedly only told it was a medical emergency and did not confirm who the patient was.Â
McConnell was reportedly found "unconscious" at his home in Washington the day of his hospitalization, according reporting from FOX News. The outlet reported audio from the 911 call on June 14 indicated the senator was "unconscious" when emergency crews were dispatched. The dispatcher also requested an Advanced Life Support (ALS) response.Â
McConnell's spokesperson didn't comment on the audio last week, but confirmed the senator is still hospitalized and "working closely with his staff on legislative matters."
Beshear asks McConnell to give public update on condition
Wednesday, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear publicly asked McConnell to disclose more about his condition.
In a letter sent Wednesday to McConnell's office, Beshear said Kentuckians have become increasingly concerned about the longtime senator's health in recent weeks and asked him to share an update on his current condition.
"Over the last several weeks, Kentuckians have grown increasingly concerned about the health and well-being of Sen. McConnell," Beshear said in a written statement. "As Governor – and a fellow public official who understands the commitment we've made to the people we serve – I am requesting the Senator provide an update on his current health status."
Beshear said allowing speculation to continue "is not fair to the Senator or to Kentuckians" and expressed hope that McConnell would address the public directly.
"I wish him a safe and speedy recovery," Beshear said.
The governor's request follows reports that McConnell was admitted to a hospital June 14. Since then, Beshear said limited information has been released by the senator's office about his condition.
According to the governor's office, the administration has received an increasing number of inquiries from Kentuckians asking about McConnell's health. Beshear said he chose to reach out directly to the senator rather than add to ongoing speculation.
McConnell's office hasn't publicly responded to Beshear's request.
Others say they've spoken to McConnell
In a written statement just after 2 p.m. Tuesday, McConnell's spokesperson pointed to statements from political analyst Scott Jennings as well as reporting from NOTUS and the New York Times as examples of people who said they've spoken to McConnell recently.
"As the Senator continues to recover, we will be sure to keep you updated," his spokesperson wrote in an email Tuesday. "Wanted to flag the following tweets for you."

I told him we want to see him back at work as soon as possible."
