Body found during search near abandoned vehicle on southern Indiana hiking trail

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A body was found Monday morning in Scott County, Indiana.

According to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to Knobstone Trail at 10:19 a.m. after a report of an abandoned vehicle.

Indiana Conservation Officers assisted deputies with a search. Police said an unidentified body was found, and a forensic examination has been scheduled.

Police said results of the examination will not be known for six to eight weeks.

"We are saddened by the discovery of the body found yesterday," Scott County Sheriff Jerry Goodin said in a news release. "This is an active investigation. There will be more information released later once we have all the answers possible concerning this death."
