LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A man was arrested for allegedly shooting a man outside a Valley Station liquor store on Saturday night.

According to court documents, surveillance footage shows 29-year-old Matthew Tarrance got in a verbal argument with a man standing outside Valley Liquors in the 5400 block of Valley Station Road.

The man then threw a cigarette butt onto Tarrance's car which caused him to get out of the car and continue the argument.

Tarrance allegedly pulled out a gun and shot the man at least twice in the stomach. Police said the victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Court documents state Tarrance drove away and called police saying he shot someone in self-defense. 

Tarrance was arrested and charged with assault.
