LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The famous Trooper Teddy Bears from the Kentucky State Police are going on sale to honor the agency's 75th anniversary.

The Trooper Bears, which normally are $25.00, will be on sale for a limited time for $19.48, in honor of KSP's establishment in 1948. The sale will run from Nov. 23 through Nov. 27.

The program provides teddy bears to children in traumatic situations including car crashes, exposure to drugs or domestic abuse. KSP says giving kids the bears builds trust and opens the door to communication between the child and the trooper.

“The Trooper Teddy Bear Project symbolizes the enduring commitment of KSP to serve our communities,” KSP Commissioner Phillip Burnett Jr. said in a news release on Wednesday. “We encourage everyone to take part in this sale, helping us carry forward the legacy of comforting those in need during challenging times.”

The bears can conveniently be purchased online, and can be shipped to your home for an additional fee or picked up at any KSP post free of charge.

All proceeds from the sale go to the agency's outreach program.

The Trooper Teddy Bear Project was started in 1989 by Kentucky First Lady Martha Wilkinson.
