LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A night of celebration and reflection marked the induction of the 12th class into the Louisville Catholic Sports Hall of Fame on Friday.
This year’s class includes the Meiners family, Jerry King, Steve Raible, Ashley Kroh, Joe Kroh, Kaelin Rybak, Teri Connelly Campisano and Elizabeth Campbell Moir. Former Bellarmine men's basketball head coach Scotty Davenport was the evening's featured guest speaker.
The Meiners family, a name long associated with athletics and community involvement in Louisville, was recognized for generations of contributions on and off the field. Among those inducted was longtime radio personality Terry Meiners.
Meiners reflected on how sports shaped his upbringing, saying athletics helped build confidence within his family. He said that while he may not have stood out in the classroom, throwing a fastball earned him respect at home.
"This is something I think advanced our family's confidence. You know, education is one thing and I was a middling student, but if I could throw a fastball, I think it made me look better in my dad's eyes," he laughed. "We're honored that the Hall of Fame is honoring our mom and dad and that's what this is really about."
Meiners said the honor carries special meaning because it celebrates his parents and the foundation they built.
The Hall of Fame recognizes athletes, coaches and supporters who have made lasting impacts on Catholic school sports across the Louisville area, highlighting not only wins and championships but also character and commitment to the community.
