LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A 6-month-old girl kidnapped in Indiana was found Thursday night in Louisville, local police and federal investigators announced Friday.
According to a news release from the Louisville Metro Police Department and the FBI, the West Lafayette Police Department sent out information that the girl and his or her suspected kidnapper was on a bus traveling to Louisville. West Lafayette police said 22-year-old Jasmine O'Sullivan, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, "assumed the identity of an uninvolved individual to gain the mother's trust and facilitate the kidnapping" of the baby, who they said is named Adalyn.
LMPD officers, specialized task force personnel and SWAT officers then met the bus when it arrived just after 10 p.m. Thursday at the Greyhound bus station. Officers promptly recovered the child and took O'Sullivan into custody five hours after Adalyn was kidnapped.
Police said the 6-month-old was taken to Norton Children's Hospital as a precaution before being reunited with family. FBI agents took custody of O'Sullivan and charged her with kidnapping.
