LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB/WSMV) — A man was killed and multiple others were injured Saturday afternoon after an 87-year-old Kentucky man ran a red light in downtown Nashville and hit four people on a crosswalk.
According to WSMV, the Kentucky man ran a red light at the Fourth Avenue and Broadway intersection. The Metro Nashville Police Department said a 58-year-old man from Australia died at the hospital.
A 34-year-old man from Jacksonville, Florida, is in critical condition and needed surgery. A 21-year-old woman from Knoxville sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
A 58-year-old woman is also in critical condition.
Police said the driver is in critical condition. His wife and caregiver were also in the car at the time of the crash. His wife sustained minor injuries and the caregiver was not injured.
Police said cameras captured the crash and showed the pedestrians had the right of way at the time.
