LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Louisville Bats will host a 5K race for the third year in a row this summer.
The Triple-A baseball team will hold the race June 14. Competitors get the chance to run the final quarter mile on the field at the baseball stadium in downtown Louisville.
The race begins at 8 a.m. It starts and ends outside of the Witherspoon Street gate.
According to a news release, the top overall male and female winners will receive a full-size Louisville Slugger bat.
A portion of each ticket sold for the race will benefit Louisville Sports Commission's Playing it Forward program. The program collects new, outgrown and gently used sports equipment for children who can't afford it.
