LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Norton Healthcare, Baptist Health Louisville and UofL Health welcomed the first babies of the new year early Thursday morning. 

Baby Asa was born at Norton Women's & Children’s Hospital in Louisville at 12:52 a.m., weighing in at 7 lbs., 6 oz., according to a news release. Asa's family was given a gift to commemorate Asa's being the first baby born at Norton Healthcare in 2026. 

Baptist Health said its first baby was born at 8:13 a.m. Thursday. Latresha Mitchel celebrated the birth of her first child, Legend Livine Mitchell. Legend weighed 7.6 pounds and measured 20 inches long. 

And UofL Health said Hannah and Matthew Harrison, from Springfield, Illinois, welcomed a baby girl, Josephine, at 2:21 p.m. She weighed 7 pounds and 5 ounces and measured 21.21 inches long.
