LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — It was a special day for a Louisville organization that helps those who are homeless.

Every Sunday, Hip Hop Cares feeds the homeless. On Sunday morning near Interstate 65 and Broadway, the organization celebrated it's dedication to the city.

To date, Hip Hop Cares has been in operation for the past 10 years and for 522 consecutive Sundays, volunteers have been handing out meals and clothing to those in our community.

The organization is a grassroots effort that helps get the word out on social media.

"Anybody and everybody is always welcome to come down here on any Sunday morning, whether it's hot, cold, convenient or inconvenient, comfortable or uncomfortable we are down here," Jeff Gill, founder of Hip Hop Cares, said. "I strongly recommend people getting involved when it is uncomfortable cause that's when we learn and grow the most.

Hip Hop Cares also helps people get connected with resources like housing and mental health support.
