The audio was released by representatives for Schnatter on March 31, 2021.

Nearly three years after his downfall, Papa John’s International founder John Schnatter has released the full recording of a 2018 conference call in which he uttered a racial slur, claiming that the tape shows the public relations contractors on the other end of the call conspired against him.
