Cincinnati-based grocery chain Kroger plans to end the $2 per hour "hero bonuses" it's paid workers since March 29.

"To take away this kind of support and recognition for the very people who are getting our community through this crisis is demoralizing,” said Caitlin Blair, spokeswoman for UFCW Local 227, which represents thousands of hourly workers at Louisville-area Kroger stores. “These workers deserve our gratitude and our support.”
Kroger said it also will extend its coronavirus-related emergency sick leave policy, which it had planned to end May 23.
Experts are worried that it may be tough for consumers to keep shopping until they drop without an extension of various stimulus benefits.
