Misty Noel released from prison after serving nearly 10 months of 18-month sentence

She was sentenced to 18 months in prison, followed by 4.5 years of probation, after her plea deal was accepted.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Misty Noel, the ex-wife of former Clark County Sheriff Jamey Noel, was released Monday from prison.

Misty Noel pleaded guilty in May 2025 to five counts of theft and five counts of tax evasion, the original charges filed against her.

She was sentenced to 18 months in prison, followed by 4.5 years of probation, after her plea deal was accepted. She began serving her sentence July 3, 2025.

Misty Noel was released nearly 10 months after her prison time began.

"The law was equally applied to her as any person committed to the DOC," her attorney Bart McMahon said in a statement. "No favors were extended."

As part of the plea deal, Misty Noel had to repay $660,806.64 in restitution to New Chapel EMS and $29,547 to the Indiana Department of Revenue.

Misty Noel changed her last name to her maiden name Jackson after her divorce with Jamey Noel was finalized.

At Jamey Noel's sentencing in October 2024, he said his family, including his wife, had no idea of his illegal activity. Jamey Noel was sentenced to 12 years in prison and ordered to pay millions in restitution after pleading guilty to 27 felonies for theft, obstruction of justice, tax evasion, money laundering, corrupt business influence and official misconduct.

In February 2025, Misty Noel's daughter, Kasey, was sentenced to nine months in prison. She was arrested on nine felony charges, including five counts of theft and four counts of tax evasion. Search warrants in the corruption case of Jamey Noel indicate Kasey Noel charged more than $100,000 to the Utica Township Volunteer Firefighters Association and New Chapel EMS.

She was arrested in February 2024 and spent a weekend in the Scott County Detention Center before her first court appearance and was released from jail after posting a $30,000 cash bond.
