LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Authorities are looking for a Louisville man who allegedly fled the scene of a fatal crash in Bullitt County.
In a news release, Kentucky State Police said troopers were asked by Bullitt County Dispatch to respond just before midnight Friday to a two-vehicle crash on northbound I-65 at the 112-mile marker near Shepherdsville.
Police said 34-year-old Luis Gonzalaz Perez of Louisville was driving a wrecker that was hooked up to a bobtail tractor parked on the shoulder of the roadway.
The tractor was facing north while the wrecker was facing south to transport the tractor.
Police said Perez attempted to make a U-turn across all three northbound lanes of I-65 to travel in that direction.
Shawn Franklin, 43, of North Carolina, crashed into the wrecker as it was turning northbound.
Police said Franklin sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to UofL Hospital, where he later died.
According to police, Perez was not injured and left the scene of the crash.
Police said authorities are actively attempting to locate Perez and charges are pending.
