LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A popular bakery in southern Indiana filed for bankruptcy protection.
Adrienne & Co. Bakery on Court Avenue in Jeffersonville filed a petition for bankruptcy protection Aug. 5 in U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Indiana's New Albany Division, according to our partners at Louisville Business First.
The filing allows the business to reorganize its debt while still operating. The company reported between $500,001 and $1 million in assets and between $1 million and $10 million in liabilities with between 50 and 99 creditors, LBF reported.
Court records show the bakery has not yet filed several required financial disclosures and bankruptcy schedules. LBF reported the clerk of the bankruptcy court issued a deficiency notice Aug. 6 that requires the company to submit additional documents, including a list of secured creditors, balance sheet, cash-flow statement, statement of operations and most recent tax return by Aug. 12.Â
It has until Aug. 19 to file additional documents, including its schedules of assets and liabilities, a statement of financial affairs, income and expense schedule, attorney compensation disclosure and verification of its creditor. If those required documents are not filed by the deadlines, or the court doesn't grant an extension, the notice states that the case could be dismissed without further notice.
The bakery and café was started by Adrienne Holland in 2001. Holland has won multiple blue ribbons at the Kentucky State Fair, and once made a birthday cake for Muhammad Ali.
The business once had four locations across the area, but now only has the one store in Jeffersonville.
