LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB/WBKO) — A Mayfield middle school teacher is facing a felony charge after investigators accused her of grooming one of her students.
Sadie Flores, 25, was arrested Friday at the Graves County Sheriff's Office following an investigation into an alleged inappropriate relationship with a student.
The allegation was first reported to the Graves County School District, which then turned the case over to the sheriff's department, according to the sheriff.
Detectives collected electronic records and conducted interviews before questioning Flores and making the arrest.
Flores is charged with one count of grooming a minor, a Class D felony under a new Kentucky law that took effect July 15.
The school district said it reported the allegation as soon as it was received and is cooperating with law enforcement. The district said student safety is its top priority but could not provide additional details because the investigation is ongoing.
Flores was taken to a jail in another county following her arrest. The investigation remains ongoing.
