LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A 15-year-old boy has been arrested after a 13-year-old boy was shot in Louisville's Algonquin neighborhood Monday night.

Louisville Metro Police said detectives with its Non-Fatal Shooting Unit, with help from SWAT, located and arrested the 15-year-old early Tuesday morning.

The teen is charged with assault, possession of a handgun by a minor and resisting arrest.

The shooting happened around 10:10 p.m. Monday. Police initially responded to South 28th Street, but investigators determined the shooting happened a couple of miles away inside an apartment on Patton Court.

The 13-year-old boy was shot in the leg and taken to the hospital. Police said Tuesday that he continues to recover from his injury.

LMPD's Non-Fatal Shooting Unit is continuing to investigate.
