Mark SchiefelbeinTwo West Virginia National Guard members shot Wednesday near the White House have died, the state’s governor said. Governor Patrick Morrisey confirmed their deaths in a social media post. Emergency vehicles were seen on Wednesday responding to the area. A suspect who is in custody also was shot and has injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening, the source said. President Donald Trump, who is in Florida celebrating Thanksgiving, warned in a statement on social media that the “animal” who shot the guardsmen “will pay a very steep price.”
