LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Dixie Highway was closed for several hours in both directions near the Jefferson County line in southwest Jefferson County after one person died and two others were injured in a three-vehicle crash Tuesday night.
Louisville Metro Police said the crash happened just before at 8:52 p.m. in the 14600 block of Dixie Highway. That's between the LG&E Mill Creek power plant and the Kosmos Cement plant.
LMPD spokesperson Sgt. Matt Sanders said an SUV and sedan were both traveling southbound on Dixie Highway when they collided for an unknown reason. That collision caused the SUV to go into northbound traffic and hit another vehicle head-on. The driver of the SUV died at the scene.
Sanders said the drivers of the other vehicles sustained serious injuries too.
