LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A person died Sunday morning after a fire broke out at an apartment complex in Louisville's Southside neighborhood.

Louisville Fire Capt. Donovan Sims said crews responded to a report of a smoke-filled hallway at an apartment complex in the 100 block of Colonial Oaks Court at 9:47 a.m.

Firefighters saw smoke coming from the two-story building and brought the fire under control in five minutes.

The fire was contained to a single room within an apartment and no other residents were displaced.

Sims said an occupant of the apartment was found dead inside the unit.

Arson investigators determined the cause of the fire was smoking while using oxygen.
