LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A water rescue on Floyds Fork in the Parklands near Bardstown Road has turned from a rescue mission to a recovery mission, according to Fern Creek Fire Department.
The department said two people were successfully rescued Sunday after getting swept away by currents while swimming. A third individual, a man in his 20's, was seen submerged underneath the water. Fern Creek Fire said despite more than five hours of search efforts involving multiple agencies, the man has not been found.
The fire department said the operation has transitioned from a rescue mission to a recovery effort based on the circumstances and the duration of the incident.
Search operations were suspended Sunday evening due to darkness, swift water conditions and limited visibility. Recovery operations are expected to resume at first light Monday morning.
