LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Two dogs died after a fire broke out Sunday night at a home in south Louisville.

Louisville Fire Capt. Donovan Sims said crews responded at 11:56 p.m. to a fire in the 300 block of West Southside Court.

According to Sims, two homes were heavily involved in the fire, and two vehicles between the homes were also burning.

Crews had limited access to combat the fire because power lines were downed in the driveway.

No one was found inside the homes, and seven adults along with two children were displaced. Sims said two dogs were removed from one of the homes and died from smoke and heat.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
