LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two people were taken to the hospital after they were hit by a vehicle in the Clifton neighborhood late Tuesday evening. 

It happened around 9:30 p.m. Louisville Metro Police officers shut down Frankfort Avenue near Vernon Avenue, close to the railroad tracks, in both directions while investigating the crash, according to a post on X. That's not far from Weikel and North Clifton avenues and the AMP Apartments.

Serious injuries were reported, and one of the elderly victims was listed in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the sedan that hit the pedestrians remained at the scene. 

LMPD's Traffic Unit is investigating but no charges are expected.
