LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 20-year-old Meade County man died in a multi-vehicle crash Saturday night, according to Kentucky State Police.

KSP and Meade County Sheriff's Office responded to a two-vehicle crash near the 4100 block of Payneville Road around 11:15 p.m.

According to police, Robert Eldridge was driving a 2014 Ford Mustang westbound on KY 144 when he tried to pass another vehicle. Eldridge, from Battletown, hit a 2025 Toyota Tacoma head-on in the eastbound lane.

The truck was driven by 44-year-old John Kaw, a Louisville man. 

Eldridge was pronounced dead at the scene. Kaw and a passenger in Eldridge's vehicle were flown to University of Louisville Hospital for life-threatening injuries.

KY-144 was closed for several hours for reconstruction of the crash.
