LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 27-year-old man was identified Monday as the victim of a fatal crash early Saturday morning on a Louisville interstate.

Louisville Metro Police said Eighth Division officers were called about 4 a.m. to a crash on eastbound Interstate 64 at Interstate 264. An initial investigation with witness statements determined the driver tried to take the ramp to the Watterson Expressway from I-64 East but lost control, hit the barrier wall and flipped several times in the roadway.

Fire and EMS responded and had to extricate the man from the vehicle.

The man was taken to UofL Hospital downtown, where he died of blunt force injuries. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified him Monday as Jared Aukerman.

LMPD's Traffic Unit is handling the investigation.
