LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man was arrested for the murder of an elderly man who was shot and killed Wednesday night in south Louisville.

Richard Kevin Jenkins was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting in the 7800 block of Manslick Road, near Oakcrest Court, around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Jefferson County Coroner's Office.

The Louisville Metro Police Department's Homicide Unit is handling the investigation. Just before 5 p.m. Thursday, LMPD said Justin Hayes, 50, was arrested and charged with murder in the case. 

According to an arrest citation, Jenkins was shot by Hayes during a domestic violence incident. Hayes reportedly contacted family members and "alluded to shooting" Jenkins.
