LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in Louisville's Beechmont neighborhood.

Louisville Metro Police responded  to the 300 block of West Kingston Avenue on a reported shooting around 9:20 p.m. Nov. 1, department spokesperson Aaron Ellis said.

When officers arrived, they found a man outside who had been shot. He was taken to UofL Hospital, where he later died.

According to court documents, investigators determined that Josiah Ricketts invited the victim inside to give him marijuana, then was seen running from the building to a vehicle.

Witnesses identified Ricketts to police. The vehicle and gun used were found near the suspect's residence.

Police said Ricketts and his attorney met with detectives at the LMPD Homicide Office, where he confessed to the shooting and attempted to hide evidence.

He’s been charged with murder, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and tampering with physical evidence.
