LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man died in a single vehicle accident early Saturday morning on a Louisville interstate.
In a news release, Louisville Metro Police said Eighth Division officers were called about 4 a.m. to a motor vehicle crash on eastbound Interstate 64 at the Watterson Expressway. When officers arrived, they found a single vehicle crash.
An initial investigation with witness statements determined the driver tried to take the ramp to the Watterson Expressway from I-64 east but lost control, hit the barrier wall and flipped several times in the roadway. Fire and EMS responded and had to extricate the man from the vehicle.
The man was taken to UofL Health Hospital downtown where he died. His name will be released by the Jefferson County Coroner's office once notifications are made.
LMPD's Traffic Unit is handling the investigation.
