LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Indiana State Police welcomed dozens of new troopers on Thursday.
The 84th Indiana State Police recruit academy graduation was at the Indiana State Capitol Rotunda where 28 new state troopers took the oath of office.
Each new state trooper was given their badge and official identification by State Police Superintendent Doug Carter.
The troopers went through 24 weeks of intense training, totaling more than 1,100 hours in areas such as criminal and traffic law, de-escalation, defensive tactics and firearms.Â
Each trooper is assigned to one of 14 state police posts across Indiana, and will spend the next three months working alongside an experienced Field Training officer.Â
