LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Three dogs were rescued Thursday from an island in southern Indiana amid concerns about flooding.

According to the Jeffersonville Fire Department, staff members at Admiral's Anchor contacted them about the dogs being stranded on Six Mile Island.

JFD's water rescue team and officials with Jeffersonville Fire Control took a boat out to the island and were able to get the dogs to safety.

Officials said the dogs are being taken care of at the Jeffersonville Animal Shelter.

It's unclear how the dogs got on Six Mile Island. No other information was immediately available.
