62-year-old woman dies in Oldham County house fire

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 62-year-old woman died in a house fire in Oldham County over the weekend.

La Grange Fire & Rescue said crews responded to a reported structure fire at a home on Delaware Drive in the Echo Valley Subdivision just after 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14.

Fire officials said a neighbor reported the fire. The first crews on scene said there was a working fire in a single-story home with visible flames and heavy smoke.

Crews knocked down the fire on the exterior of the home and began searching the interior. During the search, firefighters found the body of a 62-year-old woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene. During a secondary search, firefighters found a deceased dog in the home.

Officials said the other person who lived at the home wasn't there when the fire happened. Crews had the fire under control in about an hour.

Investigators believe the fire started on the outside of the house, but it's still unclear what caused it.

The fire remains under investigation. The woman's identity has not yet been released.
