African-American Think Tank hands out 250 food baskets for Thanksgiving

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The African-American Think Tank is guaranteeing a delicious Thanksgiving meal to some local families.

The organization handed out 250 food baskets filled with turkey, ham, collard greens, sweet potatoes, fruit and more on Tuesday to people who stood in line for several hours.

Over the last 15 years, the African-American Think Tank has handed out 25,000 turkeys. Organizers say they do it every Thanksgiving and Christmas.

"We have more need today than we had 15 years ago," Rev. Jermone Sutton. "I've seen people who have jobs, now chronically unemployed, standing in line. It breaks my heart."

Rev. Sutton says some turkeys were delivered to people unable to leave their homes.
