AMERICAN LEGION COMMUNITY BREAKFAST.jpeg

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The American Legion stepped up to make those in our community had a warm breakfast this holiday season.

Post Command 193 at 28th and Main Streets in the Portland neighborhood hosted their monthly community breakfast Saturday morning.

It's something they started doing back in the spring. All of the food is donated including the 120 eggs, 20 pounds of potatoes, ham and fried bologna.

The breakfast is donation only and free to those who can't afford it.

"We do it for the neighborhood," Shawnee Post 193 Commander Mike McWhorter said. "That is what we do it for. A lot of people down here don't have a lot so it helps."

They hold these breakfasts on the third Saturday of each month. Pizza is also served every Friday afternoon.
