LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Louisville Zoo has a new a cat.

Timmy, a male Amur tiger, arrived at the zoo on Trevilian Way from Potter Park Zoo in Michigan this fall. He joined female Sasha on regular habitat rotation at Tiger Taiga near Snow Leopard Pass, according to Louisville Zoo.

Zookeepers have noticed Timmy is interactive with his varied enrichment. He likes goat's milk and has a calm demeanor.

Timmy, 6, comes with a breeding recommendation from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) Amur Tiger Species Survival Plan (SSP). Vikenti, the Zoo's other male Amur tiger, moved to Potter Park Zoo. Vikenti and Sasha hadn't been able to produce offspring over the years.

Amur tigers, formerly known as Siberian tigers, are endangered and rare in the wild and zoo populations. It's estimated there are only 350-450 Amur tigers in the wild. Amur tigers are the largest living feline with males weighing up to 600 pounds and 14 feet long.

The Louisville Zoo is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and guests can stay until 5 p.m. For more information, click here.
