LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Hunters in Kentucky can apply now to take part in next year's annual elk hunt drawing.
Kentucky’s annual elk permit application period now opens Aug. 1, a year before the hunts. Previously, the application period didn't open until Jan. 1.
The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources extended the application period from four months to eight months to give hunters more time to apply during other big-game hunting seasons.
Applications may be purchased for $10 wherever hunting licenses are sold or online through Kentucky Fish and Wildlife by clicking here.
500 elk permits are available for the 2024 season.
