Louisville, Ky. -- More 750 students draw their bows and let the arrows fly during Atherton High School's first archery tournament.
The Cupid Shoot marked a turning point for the archery program at Atherton High School. Not only was Saturday's tournament a first for the high school, but the program has doubled in size in two years.
Principal and Coach Dr. Thomas Aberli says students from 30 schools took part in the shoot.
"We're very happy to see how students are developing during that time. Our individual archers, not within the sport itself. But excited to be a part of something," said Dr. Thomas Aberli, principal.
Aberli says it's a great way for students to letter in a sport that's now recognized by the Kentucky High School Athletic Association.
