LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A big serve was made for Louisville Thursday.

A brand-new $10 million squash facility opened its doors with a ceremonial ribbon cutting. It's the grand opening of the Louisville Community Squash Center on Champions Lane near Bashford Manor.

"There's certainly a lot more people playing than there was when I arrived eight years ago," said Lee Scott with the Louisville Community Squash Center. "We've got kids going to really top colleges to play squash. So yeah, the sport's definitely growing."

The state-of-the-art facility sits on the grounds of Louisville Collegiate School but will offer open access for everyone.

"We've formed 501, C3 which is Louisville squash plus, and that now is a program where we're reaching out within the community to try and find about eight to 10 kids who have never played the sport before, and we're going to offer free coaching two sessions a week with case email assistant," Scott said. "And we've also raised enough money for a 20 week semester for that."
