LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville is on a short list of cities eligible for same-day delivery from Amazon Prime.
Louisville residents with Amazon Prime are now eligible to have qualifying purchases delivered the same day the order is placed.
The city's orders will be fulfilled at Amazon's facility on Plantside Drive in Jeffersontown. The site has robotic technology that prepares deliveries for the Greater Louisville area.
Amazon officials said workers there will be able to process tens of thousands of customer orders each day. Orders must be more than $35 to qualify for same-day delivery.
Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg said the expedited delivery is a win for the city.
"We're fortunate to have same-day delivery here," Greenberg said. "It's not common everywhere in the country yet. My understanding is we're one of only 50 or so facilities like this for same-day delivery from Amazon in North America. That is so exciting."
