ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (WDRB) -- Baptist Health has agreed to buy Hardin Memorial Health for $361.4 million.
In a release, Baptist Health said it entered into an agreement to pay $235 million to HMH and $126.4 million to Hardin County. The deal still requires approval by regulatory agencies and the HMH board of trustees.
A planned vote by the board is scheduled for May 22 at its Fiscal Court meeting. The sale could be finalized by December 1.
Hardin County is the hospital's owner, but Baptist Health has managed the 300-bed facility and system for the past 20 years.
The new name for the hospital would be Baptist Health Hardin.
The agreement calls fr Baptist Health to invest $150 million in the first five years to build new facilities, recruit physicians and upgrade technology and equipment, according to the release.
Hardin Memorial Health currently serves about 400,00 people in ten counties including Hardin, LaRue, Meade, Breckinridge, Grayson,
Nelson, Hart, Bullitt, Green and Taylor.
